The Bernanke Senate Confirmation Vote 01/28/2010

In Open Thread on Thursday, February 11, 2010 at 1:00 am

January 28, 2010 is a date that should live in infamy, but I don’t expect that to be the case.  It was the day America’s elected officials offered indisputable proof that the will of the American people means nothing to them.  I’m not going to beat you up with the implications, figure it out for yourself.  Here’s how they voted, lest we forget:

Yes….er…..No: The Jellyfish

I hold the greatest contempt for the wishy-washy-sort-of-on-your-side weasels that vote for Bernanke in the cloture vote and then against him in the “for the record” vote.   Here they are:
BOXER, Barbara (D-CA)  2010
DORGAN, Byron L. (D-ND ) retiring 2010
FRANKEN, Al (D-MN)
HARKIN, Tom (D-IA)
KAUFMAN, Edward E. (D-DE)
WHITEHOUSE, Sheldon (D-RI)
LeMIEUX, George S. (R-FL)

Don’t let the door hit ya……

Yeas: Sell-outs & Fools

Please note, these are the cloture vote yeas, so the jellyfish group  will be listed again as Bernane supporters.

 Nays:

I’m breaing this group into two.  The first group are the Senators who spoke up early in oppostion to Bernanke and followed through and voted as advertised.  Sadly, there were only 13:

“A” List:

BUNNING, Jim (R-KY) retiring 2010
CRAPO, Mike (R-ID) 2010
DeMINT, Jim (R-SC) 2010
FEINGOLD, Russell D. (D-WI) 2010
McCAIN, John (R-AZ) 2010
SHELBY, Richard C. (R-AL) 2010
VITTER, David (R-LA) 2010
HUTCHISON, Kay Bailey (R-TX) Running for Governor of Texas 2010
CORNYN, John (R-TX)
INHOFE, James M. (R-OK)
MERKLEY, Jeff (D-OR)
SANDERS, Bernard (I-VT)
SESSIONS, Jeff (R-AL)

Ten Senators voted against Bernanke that played their vote close to the vest.  Make of this what you will.  Personally I don’t understand the secrecy:

“B” List:

GRASSLEY, Chuck (R-IA) 2010
SPECTER, Arlen (D-PA) 2010
THUNE, John (R-SD) 2010
BROWNBACK, Sam (R-KS) retiring 2010
BEGICH, Mark (D-AK)
CANTWELL, Maria (D-WA)
ENSIGN, John (R-NV)
RISCH, James E. (R-ID)
ROBERTS, Pat (R-KS)
WICKER, Roger F. (R-MS)

And that’s the way it was……

  1. Damn… missed this one until you recently linked to it.
Reading it is similar to the reason I stay glued to that “to Catch a Predator” investigation, I just want to know those faces should we cross paths someday.
